The NPI Difference

What is the difference in hoods? What makes one better then the other?

Most products sold in this industry by more then 85% of the companies offering Mustang hoods sell products that are only 50% finished or as some would say "prepped". A pre-prepped hood is a product that has been sanded down after being taken out of the molds showing a smooth and clean texture. As show in this example of a Fiberglass NPI Cobra R2000 hood:

Notice the smooth texture on both sides of this hood. This product has been fully prepped and ready to be painted. A prepped hood will save a customer hundreds of dollars from a paint and body shop from having further time and materials spent in installing the product on a vehicle. Be wary or any company that only shows you the top side of a hood. Most companies only finish the top side so to offer a cheaper product to the industry.

Many of our customers whom have purchased $250.00 - 300.00 hoods on Ebay have found they later required $250.00 in sanding to get ready to be painted. Avoid high cost by purchasing the right product the first time, make that product a Niche Performance Industries product.

FIT, Does this hood have an OEM fit?

This question is probably asked by 90% of all customers. Unfortunately most customers don't understand what an OEM fit means. An OEM fit means a product that has been manufactured to the same dimensions and tolerances of an OEM product. How Niche Performance Industries accomplishes this, is part of the NPI background which can be derived by the owner himself whom at one point worked for Ford himself. With his contracts and having involvement in SEMA. Niche Performance Industries can take CAD data directly from Ford and use that information to create molds that have the same dimensions. By also taking dimensions from original equipment from, say an Original Cobra R 2000 hood, we can then verify shape and design and manufacture from there. As a company you can't do more to get close to OEM fit and design then that.

So why does one hood fit and another doesn't?

All Mustangs are not perfectly shaped creations of metal. Every stock Mustang hood has to be installed an moved aroudn to create what comes out of a factory. Every hood's location on a vehicle is adjusted and manipulated through metal bushings underneath the stock hinges. Hinges can be moved forward and backwards. Fenders can be moved in and out, and the front latch can be moved left to right to lock up with the hood latch. These are all factors in having a hood sit correctly on a vehicle.

Niche Performance Industries recommends all products be shipped to dealerships or body shops to be properly installed. Most customers whom stated a product didn't fit has attempted to install the product themselves at their homes with no knowledge of the adjustment position around in an engine bay.

Niche Performance Industries maintains on-going quality control also by renewing molds every 50 hoods to maintain shape and integrity within the production line. NPI also keeps track of all customers with 30, 90, and 1 year follow-ups to check on durability and life cycle of the product.
